Omron Foundation, Inc. Contributes $50,000 Towards Hurricane Harvey Relief Efforts

August 30, 2017

HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL (August 30, 2017)—OMRON Foundation, Inc. is contributing $50,000 to the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund, to assist those affected by the storm’s devastation.

Harvey made landfall near Corpus Christie, Texas last Friday night as a Category 4 hurricane with winds of 130 miles per hour. So far, it has dropped more than 50 inches of rain on the Houston area, causing widespread flooding, necessitating the rescue of 13,000 people. Thirty deaths have been reported and 300,000 residents are coping without power.

“At this time, our thoughts are directed toward the safety and recovery of the people of southeast Texas who have been affected by this disaster—the worst domestic storm in more than a decade,” said Nigel Blakeway, Omron Foundation President and CEO of Omron Management Center of America, Inc.

Omron Healthcare, Inc. has also sent assistance—in the form of blood pressure monitors, stethoscopes, and nebulizers—to the aid organization Direct Relief, to help in the response.

Omron employees are encouraged to support the relief efforts by making individual donations which are matched by the Omron Foundation.
